From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

A 68-year-old woman is believed to have been mauled to death by her pet dogs in the US.

Daisie Bradshaw's body was found in her basement by her daughter, who called emergency services telling them a pair of German shepherds could have eaten her mother.

New York Police Department (NYPD) said officers responding to the call in Staten Island found Ms Bradshaw beaten, bruised and unresponsive. She was declared dead at the scene, reports Inside Edition.

Two dogs were found in the basement and her body shows defensive wounds and bite marks, NYPD confirms.

A Police Emergency Service Unit took the dogs away from the scene after sedating them.

The New York medical examiner is to determine the official cause of death while the investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing.

In August, a three-year-old boy from Halstead in Essex died after being bitten by a dog.

A few days earlier, a man in his fifties in West Yorkshire was attacked by a dog and died from his injuries.
