From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sian Green, 24, has been recovering from surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York after a yellow cab ran into her at the start of a holiday with a female friend.
Evelyn Hernandez, a spokesman for the New York hospital, said: "Ms Green has been upgraded to fair condition."
Doctors have said Ms Green, from Leicester, was "fortunate" not to have suffered more serious injury and should recover the use of her other leg with physiotherapy.
Medics had to amputate her left leg below the knee after the accident, while she is continuing to undergo treatment to wounds on her other leg suffered in the crash.
She was near the Rockefeller Center in Midtown, Manhattan, at about 11am on August 20 when the accident happened.
The New York Police Department has been investigating the incident but last week the taxi driver involved in the crash said it was not his fault.
Mohammed Fasyal Himon said he was "very sorry" about the accident but he blamed a cyclist who pounded on his car and yelled at him for causing the crash.
A fund has has been set up by the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers to help pay Ms Green's medical expenses.
