A Muslim woman was attacked on Thursday by three men who attempted to grab her purse and rip off her hijab, authorities announced on Friday.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating after three intoxicated men attacked the 18-year-old woman and called her a terrorist while she rode a northbound 6 train around 10 pm. Police also said that the men attempted to steal the woman’s purse and told her to leave the country because she doesn’t belong here.

After the alleged attack, she immediately notified a police officer after exiting the train at 42nd Street, Grand Central.

No arrests have been made as of Friday afternoon. Authorities are currently searching for three clean-shaven suspects whom they believe are between 20 and 23-years-old.

The reported attack comes amid an uptick racist attacks and incidents of hatred across the country. This week, the Southern Poverty Law Center released an analysis of collected submissions and news reports finding nearly 900 incidents of racially motivated attacks in America just ten days following Donald Trump’s election win.
