A woman has crashed her car through the lobby of a police station in Los Angeles with an infant in her vehicle.

At 4.45am on Saturday a woman, whose name has not been released, drove into the Harbor Division station, which was closed at the time.

Video footage shows the woman, whose name has not been released, manoeuvring around barriers and crashing through the glass doors.

She is then seen to pull into the lobby of the police station and begin reversing back with her door open, almost knocking down an officer.

The woman and the child, whose age is not known, were taken to hospital but they are not believed to be seriously injured, according to ABC.

The woman has been taken into custody and it is unclear why she drove into the station but police did say it appeared she was under the influence.

Officers have not yet determined what, if any, charges she will face.

No further information has been released.
