From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

An icon of Seventies pornography, Linda Lovelace, has died in a Denver hospital from car crash injuries. The former blue-movie star, whose real name was Linda Boreman, was 53 and had two adult children.
She made her name in Deep Throat, a 1972 colour sex flick that became a minor cultural phenomenon, and took an astonishing £414m at the box office. She was paid £860. The steamy film also had close to an actual plot, with humorous touches.
Ms Boreman had suffered massive internal injuries in the crash on 3 April. She was taken off a life-support machine on Monday. Her former husband, Larry Marchiano, said he was with their children at the hospital when she died. "Everyone might know her as something else, but we knew her as Mom and as Linda," he said. "We divorced five years ago, but she was still my best friend."
In her 1980 autobiography, Ordeal, Ms Boreman said her first husband, from she was divorced in 1973, forced her into pornography at gunpoint. She fled the industry, and became a fixture on the anti-porn lecture circuit, appearing with leading feminists.
