One song reportedly prompted 200 teens to erupt into a massive fistfight on Sunday at a Virginia roller skating rink, but the Roanoke police are still trying to figure out if that is the case.

Some local media outlets reported it was gunfire that kicked off the sprawling brawls, but others are saying it was a song.

The Roanoke Police Department said it was called in to the Star City Skate Center around 12.30 am, “and found close to 200 individuals, both juveniles and adults, involved in the fight,” WDBJ reported.

Some teens reportedly said they heard gunfire just before the fight erupted, according to investigators. But police have not found proof of any gunfire inside the rink. Nobody was arrested at the scene.

Two witnesses, however, told WXFR, a local news station, that “a song came on that stirred local gang tension” in the crowd. The crowd at the rink included kids as young as 13.

The police were not able to identify the song that started the massive fight, but “gang signs soon led to 95 per cent of the room” slugging each other.

“It was crazy,” Nicholas Gilliam Jr, a witness, told WFXR. “They had it out. They were running with it.”

The police sent all the juveniles involved in the brawl to their parents or caretakers.

There are no reported injuries from the massive brawl.
