Your support makes all the difference.Canadian police have confirmed that a human head found in a Montreal city park belongs to a Chinese student who was allegedly killed, dismembered and cannibalised by porn actor Luka Magnotta.
Police found the head of Jun Lin in Montreal's Park Angrignon, just miles from Magnotta's apartment. They had received a tip informing them that a suspicious item had been spotted near the lake. The head is the final missing body part.
Magnotta allegedly killed the student and mailed his body parts to schools and political parties.
He pleaded not guilty to murder charges last month after being arrested following an international manhunt.
Police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux said the head, "had been there for quite some time, but we won't go into details, partly out of respect for the family and friends of the victim.
"What is important is what we were looking for has been found and the rest of the investigation can continue."
Canadian police have said that Magnotta had videoed himself stabbing a naked man with an ice pick before having sex with the corpse.
In a further version of the video police said it appeared Magnotta was eating parts of the body.
The case first came to light on the 29th May when a severed foot was found by staff at the Canadian Conservative party headquarters.
On the same day a hand was also discovered at a postal distribution facility - it was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada.
The torso of Jun Lin was subsequently discovered in a suitcase at a rubbish dump near to Magnotta's apartment in Montreal.
The grim discoveries continued when a foot and hand were mailed to two schools in Vancouver.
A hand was mailed to False Creek Elementary School and a foot to St. George's private school for boys.
Police have said there were notes in the packages but have not revealed what they said.
DNA tests later confirmed that the body parts belonged to Jun Lin.
When the body was discovered Magnotta fled to Europe, prompting an international manhunt.
He had spent a few days in Paris before moving onto Berlin. He was caught last month at an internet cafe as he read stories about himself and his crimes.
Magnotta did not contest his extradition from Germany, and was returned to Canada via a military plane on June 18.
Along with a first-degree murder charge, Magnotta is charged with committing an indignity to a dead body. He is also charged with harassing the Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper and other senior politicians, and publishing and mailing obscene material.
