From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Hillary Clinton and her campaign team have taken part in the viral 'Mannequin Challenge' in a last minute campaign video - but Bill Clinton almost ruined it.

Ms Clinton and her team were joined on board their campaign jet by Eighties rocker and Clinton supporter Bon Jovi as they attempted the new fad in which everyone present is required to stand completely still.

The footage was shared on the Democratic candidate's official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, with the caption: “Don't stand still. Vote today”. It pans across staff members as they remain frozen in their position like wax figures - largely very successfully.

But on closer inspection Mr Clinton, never one to ignore a camera and always with a twinkle in his eye, is seen coming close to ruining the sketch as his gaze very briefly shifts towards the lens.

Ms Clinton wasn't entirely successful either: she can be seen blinking before the challenge is over.

The video has been shared more than 26,000 times and attracted comments from supporters of both sides of the presidential debate as Americans wait to find out whether Ms Clinton or Donald Trump will be the next US president.
