Hiker in '127 Hours' crawl across desert

A hiker crawled for four days across the Utah desert after breaking his leg on a solo trek inspired by the film 127 Hours, which recounts the true story of Aaron Ralston, who cut off his arm after being trapped under a boulder in the same canyon.

Amos Richards, 64, said he decided to do the hike after seeing the film, but fell 10ft during his walk. Rangers at Canyonlands National Park found Mr Richards four days later. He had also dislocated his shoulder but was able to work it back into place.

"He made some of the very same mistakes that Aaron Ralston did. He went into a very remote area and nobody knew what his travel plans were," a park superintendent told the Huffington Post. AP
