A woman allegedly zipped her boyfriend inside a suitcase and left him to die while taunting him on video.
Sarah Boone, from Winter Park, Florida, told detectives she had been playing a game of hide-and-seek with her boyfriend Jorge Torres at her home on Monday night.
The 42-year-old said they had been drinking alcohol and discussed how it would be funny if he got inside a suitcase, according to WKMG-TV.
She told police she zipped Mr Torres, also 42, inside the piece of luggage but then passed out in her bed, the news station reported, citing court documents.
Ms Boone claimed she woke up hours later and, realising her boyfriend was still inside the suitcase, called emergency services.
Police said Mr Torres had a small cut on his lip and bruising around his eye, according to WKMG.
They found two videos on Ms Boone’s phone which allegedly show Mr Torres shouting that he cannot breathe while Ms Boone laughs.
Ms Boone allegedly said: “Yeah that’s what you do when you choke me,” according to court record cited by WKMG.
“That’s on you. Oh, that’s what I feel like when you cheat on me,” she reportedly told Mr Torres as he continued to tell her could not breathe.
One video reportedly shows Mr Torres pushing on the suitcase in an attempt to escape while it is facing downwards, and another shows the luggage in a different position as he calls out for Ms Boone.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared a video of her arrest on Twitter, adding: “Arrested: Sarah Boone, 42, for second degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Jorge Torres Jr., who died after Boone zipped him into a suitcase, and didn’t return for hours.”
Ms Boone was charged with second degree murder after investigators allegedly found inconsistencies in her statements as well as the videos.
She is currently being held in Orange County Jail.
