Your support makes all the difference.An American teenager has made light of a two-day stint in jail for drink-driving by baffling police taking his mugshot by wearing a T-shirt displaying his previous mugshot.
Robert Burt, 19, had officers seeing double at Somerset County Jail in Maine earlier this month.
He had been caught driving under the influence of alcohol in Pittsfield, Maine, in June and was then pictured in a white T-shirt with a blackboard.
After a judge handed him a 48-hour prison sentence, he appears to have planned the stunt with a colleague and had the top printed in time for his next picture in custody.
Beneath the previous mugshot, writing on the orange top reads: “Burt family reunion 8/8-8/10/2014 sponsored by Bud Light and Somerset County Sheriff.”
It is thought to be a reference to a relative also serving time and possibly the drink he had before the original arrest.
In a post on Facebook, the teenager seemed relaxed about his spell in jail, writing: “Going to do my 48 hours whoo [sic].”
He announced his release by updating his status to “I’m out bitchs [sic]” on 10 August and has since made the T-shirt picture, which went viral, his profile picture.
A photo shared on Burt's Facebook page appears to show a second picture on the custom top, of a furry white cat apparently lounging in front of a television with a remote control and bottle of beer.
It was not visible in the police mugshot.
Two days after being released, Burt posted the picture online bragging: “It’s the s***.”
