After a man wearing a turban was reportedly escorted out of a Donald Trump rally, the Republican presidential candidate asked: "He wasn't wearing one of those hats, was he?"

The man was ejected from the rally at Muscatine High School, Iowa, on Sunday, after standing up with a sign reading "Stop Hate" as Mr Trump was speaking about the 11 September terror attacks and the San Bernardino shooting.

The businessman then pointed to the man, saying: "He wasn't wearing one of those hats, was he?

"Was he wearing one of those things? And he never will, and that's okay because we got to do something folks because it's not working."

According to ABC News, participants at Mr Trump's rallys are urged not to harm protesters but instead shout "Trump! Trump! Trump!" as an alert to security.

Instead, the crowd chanted "USA, USA, USA" as the protester was escorted out.
