The White House has made its sartorial choices for next week's inauguration ceremony.
President George Bush has chosen a business suit rather than the more formal morning suit, a style last worn by Ronald Reagan.
Mrs Bush will wear a white cashmere day suit by the designer Oscar de la Renta, (pictured).
For the evening balls the first couple will attend, Mrs Bush has opted for an ice blue and silver gown by the same designer.
The President's daughters, Jenna and Barbara, have ordered ball gowns by the US label Badgley Mischka. Barbara's V-cut neckline is apparently cut so low that the designer felt compelled to reassure gentle souls that there will be "no wardrobe malfunctions for the first family".
