A Peruvian bullfighter has been repeatedly flung into the air and gored after trying to ride a bull.

Footage shows the bull throwing the unnamed man from its back before running at him again.

As he lies on the floor, presumably unconscious from the fall, the bull stabs the man in the back with its horn.

The accident took place during the 53rd anniversary of the festival in Antonia Raimondi, in Ancash.

Other bullfighters can be seen rushing into the arena in an attempt to stop the animal.

As the man is dragged a way, blood can be seen pouring from a wound on his back.

The bull reportedly escaped the arena, but was eventually captured and brought back to the ring.

The injured man's condition is unknown.
