CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin has announced that she has tested positive for coronavirus, three days after her colleague Chris Cuomo revealed that he too has Covid-19.

In an Instagram post announcing her diagnosis, Ms Baldwin said “I am OKAY” and described her symptoms.

“It came on suddenly yesterday afternoon. Chills, aches, fever.”

She said that she had been following social distancing guidelines and “doing all the things we’re being told to do,” but that “it got me.”

Ms Baldwin works out of CNN’s offices in New York City, the current epicenter of the US coronavirus outbreak.

The anchor said she had no underlying health conditions and said she hopes to be back on the air “real soon.”

Three days prior, Ms Baldwin’s network colleague Chris Cuomo – brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo – announced he tested positive for the virus and began working from his basement in isolation.

Mr Cuomo appeared on CNN’s weekly town hall program discussing the virus and his experience and symptoms.

“I’m doing well. The beast comes at night,” he said.

He said that his fever fluctuates over the course of minutes and that nights are difficult for him, though he assured his colleagues that he was alright. He did note, however, that under any normal circumstances, individuals with the severity of disease that he has should be treated in a hospital.

“It is responsible journalism to say that 80 percent of people who get this, statistically, wind up okay, meaning they don’t get a hospital, they get through it. It is not humanly responsible, though, from an ethical perspective,” he said. “You suffer when you have this at home, unless you are ridiculously lucky, statistically, and maybe karmically as well.”

Mr Cuomo said he has lost 13 pounds and chipped a tooth while shivering since his diagnosis.
