Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of pop star Whitney Houston, was involved in a car accident just days before she was found unresponsive, face down in her bathtub, according to the Associated Press.

Two people were hurt in the 27 January accident, which happened when Ms Brown lost control of her Jeep and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle. A passenger in Ms Brown’s car and the driver of the other car were taken to the hospital.

Ms Brown was found four days later, face down in her bathtub at home in Roswell, Georgia. She has been in the hospital since and reports have varied on her condition. Earlier this week, some reports claimed the family was going to take her off life support, but later reports from the family suggested she was improving.

It’s not clear what led to Ms Brown being found in that manner and no connection has been drawn to the accident at this point.
