Your support makes all the difference. She did not hesitate. Once five-year Allison Anderwald spotted her mother unconscious in the swimming pool, she sprang into action and saved her life.
The youngster has this week been praised for her quick action, an act that was captured on CCTV cameras at the family’s home in Portland, Texas.
The girl’s mother, Tracy Anderwald, 34, told ABC News today that they had been “enjoying a mommy-daughter day” in her sister’s backyard pool when she suddenly had a seizure, blacked out and sank four feet down to the pool's floor.
After Allison realized her mom had not come up, she jumped in, pulled her mother to the shallow end of the pool and flipped her body over so her head was no longer face down.
One of the Ms Anderwald’s sisters was walking to the house and the little girl ran to tell her what had happened. The sister, Tedra Hunt, then called the emergency services.
“The doctors explained to us that had Tracy been underwater any longer, she probably wouldn't be with us right now,” said Ms Hunt.
“It is truly amazing that this little girl, who’s actually also pretty small for her age, was able to save my sister.”
