New, close-up footage has emerged of gunman Seifeddine Rezgui after his deadly attack on the tourists at the beach near Sousse that left 38 tourists dead.

The footage, obtained by Sky News, has been filmed by a local man as he, other locals and members of hotel staff attempted to pursue Rezgui while facing danger themselves.

Scenes of chaos from within the hotel’s grounds are seen as the footage starts.

Locals and staff members are seen running as gunshots and an explosion are heard in the hotel’s grounds, before the footage cuts to a bar area. The local man filming the attack on his phone captures the image of Rezgui on the other side of the empty bar.

The man appears to pick up a bottle to use in self-defence before Rezgui is seen walking back towards the beach with his Kalashnikov in the air. He attempts to follow Rezgui but is forced back and to take cover until he is able to follow the gunman down to the beach.

The local man apparently captures the dreadful aftermath of Rezgui’s killing as he reaches the beach.

According to Sky News, the man is the first survivor at the beach after the gunman opened fire on the tourists, killing at least 38. This footage of the aftermath has been removed.

The video then cuts to scenes of locals running after Rezgui along the beach. The local man cuts through the hotel to a street outside, where further gunfire is heard. There is a round of fire that is believed to signal the moment Rezgui is shot and killed by police.

Further footage had already emerged of Rezgui running along the beach and into the Hotel Rue Imperial Marhaba’s grounds, which he is thought to have known the layout, while other images have been discovered of locals forming a “human shield” in an attempt to protect another hotel from Rezgui’s line of attack.
