Aid workers and UN officials confirmed hearing automatic gunfire after a group of up to 1,000 people was seen moving towards the centre of the capital of the north Darfur state El Fasher yesterday morning. UN officials said last week that investors had complained about losing large amounts of money in a Ponzi scheme.
