The ‘World’s longest waterslide’ has been built in New Jersey, according to the wonderful people who have constructed it.
The 2,000-foot long ‘Xtreme’ ride has been erected at the Action Park water park, with specially invited guests due to test the slide later today, with an official from the Guinness Book of World Records expected to be on hand to see if it's really as big as they're claiming.
Set to measure a total of 2,000 feet, to ride it will take between 60 and 90 seconds, depending on the rider, and requires 1,000 gallons of water an hour to operate.
Inflating it was no easy task, with the park’s team entrusting the help of two generators and fifteen blowers.
The New Jersey Herald has reported that the slide was built by Aflex Technologies, and is made up of 20, 1,000-foot sections weighing 600 pounds each. The surface is made of the same material used in bounce horses, claims the Herald's correspondent, although what exactly a bounce horse is remains a mystery.
If the slide works, it won't be the second time the park gets into the Guinness Book of World Records, having opened the world's tallest and only double looping drop box waterslide last year, called ZeroG.
After seeing his staff test out their new star attraction, President of Action Park, Bill Benneyan said: "What's more wild and crazy than flying nearly half a mile down a ski mountain on the World's Longest Waterslide?"
What's more wild, Bill? How about being the guy who paid for it.
