Jason and Tiffany Mertlich thought they would sweeten the deal by revealing the new arrival’s gender with a colour-coded cake.
But nothing could prevent their son Gunner’s tantrum when the pink sponge told him he was getting a third little sister.
“It’s a girl!” the six-year-old shouted through the tears. “It’s another girl! I hate girls! Every time it’s girl, girl, girl, girl!”
“I want to leave this house and never come back. I want to be by myself.”
“No! I don’t want to!” Gunner shouted. “It’s too much girls.”
Sisters Paisley and Harper remained resolutely chirpy throughout the episode and said they were looking forward to having another girl around.
Their parents can only hope Gunner will have reconciled himself to the idea by the time sister number three is born...
