At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.A father who took his six-year-old daughter out for dinner on Valentine’s Day has shared a heart-warming note two strangers left him, in a bid to thank the pair for their kind gesture.
Over the weekend, the single father decided to treat his young daughter to a dinner at a branch of The Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant.
Touched by his gesture, a couple who said they “grew up without dads” left the man a note on his table, telling his “dinner is on us!”
The note "from two adults who grew up without dads" explained that the couple had seen the man with his "little date and were so impressed with that a great dad you are."
"Keep up the good work dad! Dinner is on us!" it read, ending with a smiley face.
The man has since shared the photo on Imgur under the title "I wish I could thank them".
“I won’t lie, I teared up at the table,” he wrote under the image, adding: “So, thank you random strangers. Thank you.”
