A Russian plane loaded with aid arrived at a Macedonian refugee camp. The plane carried medicine, food, clothes and bedding collected by businesses in the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

The French Prime Minister, Lionel Jospin, arrived in Tirana to look at the plight of Kosovo refugees and relief needs in Albania and Macedonia during a two-day visit.

Nato said it had carried out over 600 sorties in its latest wave of air strikes against Yugoslavia.

Japan said it would give $30m (pounds 19m) to Albania and Macedonia to help them recover from the Kosovo conflict and cope with refugees. It said it would consider another $30m next year.

The US announced it was working to give the International War Crimes Tribunal quick evidence of atrocities committed in Kosovo.
