From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Britain's railway watchdog will now investigate Saturday's travel nightmare which saw King's Cross station closed to all trains, causing services to be diverted to Finsbury Park.
However, the North London station - tiny when compared to the national hub of King's Cross - could not handle the influx of passengers and had to be closed because of overcrowding. It eventually reopened later in the day but travellers still compared Finsbury Park to a "war zone".
A video taken from what appears to be the top deck of a bus travelling along Seven Sisters road, shows a queue emerging from Finsbury Park station and trailing around the corner for several hundred yards.
Over-running engineering work at King's Cross meant no trains could depart on Saturday, moving reduced services to Finsbury Park, where buses were taking passengers to join trains running north to Leeds, Newcastle and Scotland.
Services in and out of King’s Cross are now running, however rail journeys to and from Paddington are currently experiencing delays of up to 15 minutes until later this morning. Service disruptions at other rail stations across the UK have been cleared however it is advised to check departure boards before travelling.
