Three people were arrested after a fire which killed a baby and two adults today in flats above a restaurant.
The blaze, which is being treated as suspicious, appeared to have started in High Street, Chatham, Kent. The bodies were found after the building was evacuated.
Fourteen fire engines were called to the scene to deal with the blaze which broke out above the Blaze restaurant at around 1am.
Kent Police confirmed that three people were arrested and are being questioned over the incident.
A spokesman said: "The fire is under control and we still have people on the scene."
He added: "A number of people were evacuated. However, three people were found to be dead inside the building.
"Kent Police are treating this incident as suspicious."
A spokesman for Kent Fire Brigade said: "We were called at 1.12am. At the height of the incident we had 14 fire engines at the premises.
"Several people escaped, some were rescued by firefighters, a couple were taken to hospital. We understand three fatalities were confirmed."
Two people are being treated in Medway Maritime Hospital, a spokeswoman for Kent Police said.
The Blaze restaurant serves "Turkish traditional cuisine", according to the sign, and is only thought to have been open a few weeks.
It is part of a four-storey building, 26ft by 49ft (8 metres by 15 metres), which also contains private flats, a spokeswoman for Kent Fire Brigade said.
