Briton Pete Atkinson sailed towards the tiny Beveridge Reef for 12 days before he was able to capture the shark's image - both direct and refracted.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Yearwas Hawaii-based photographer Doug Perrine for his picture of two sharks swimming around a bait of sardines off South Africa. Gabby Salazar, 17, of North Carolina was named Young Photographer of the Year.
