The man who was being questioned in connection with the Sarah Payne murder hunt, has been released without charge on police bail, Sussex Police said.

The man who was being questioned in connection with the Sarah Payne murder hunt, has been released without charge on police bail, Sussex Police said.

Detectives investigating the eight-year-old's murder arrested Roy Whiting, 41, yesterday in connection with the inquiry.

He was arrested in Crawley, and taken to an undisclosed police station in Sussex for further questioning by officers.

Sarah is believed to have been abducted from a field near her grandparents' home near East Preston, West Sussex, on July 1.
