A couple were described as lucky to be alive after they plunged 300ft into a ravine when their soft-top car careered off the road.
The pair, who are in the fifties, managed to free themselves from the BMW as it began sinking after landing in a river near Dylife in Powys. They were winched to safety by an RAF helicopter and were flown to hospital in Bangor for treatment but their injuries were not life-threatening.
Inspector Alun Samuel, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "The car went down a severe drop and the people actually survived which was pretty incredible.
"There was a collision with another vehicle and this BWM left the road and went into the gorge. It was a very difficult job to get them out. The car was unrecoverable."
