Your support makes all the difference.A ticket-holder has come forward to claim the UK's biggest ever lottery jackpot, National Lottery operator Camelot said yesterday.
The £84.4m prize, won in Friday's EuroMillions draw, dwarfs the country's previous record of £56m. According to Camelot, the winner could receive their money as early as today, subject to validation. "We are looking forward to welcoming the lucky ticket holder to our millionaires' club, which is already 2,400 strong," a spokesman said.
No details have been released about the winner. The ticket holder takes first place on the National Lottery Rich List, ahead of Gloucestershire couple Nigel Page and Justine Laycock, who won the £56m EuroMillions jackpot in February.
Friday's £84.4m prize would automatically make an individual winner the 789th wealthiest person in the country, according to this year's Sunday Times Rich List, placing them higher than former James Bond actor Sir Sean Connery (worth £80m), Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page (£75m) and comedian Rowan Atkinson (£70m).
