Karl Tout, 18, awaiting trial on theft and assault charges, hanged himself from the bars of his cell in the hospital wing at Moorland young offenders' institution, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Died 8 January.
Brendan Tremble, 18, of Lovell Park Heights, Leeds, who had been held on remand at Moorland (near Doncaster) for 42 days, accused of taking a car without consent, hanged himself with a sheet. Died 12 January.
David Stoddart, 18, died during seven-day sentence for offences including theft and failing to wear a crash helmet. He hanged himself at Aberdeen prison. Died 3 February.
Andrew Cook, 20, serving nine months for violent disorder, possession of offensive weapons, burglary and breach of a probation order, found hanging in Portland young offenders' centre, Dorset. Died 20 March.
Alistair Blyth, 20, was remanded in Edinburgh prison, where he was found hanging in his cell. Died 3 April.
Joseph Stanley, 17, awaiting sentence for motoring offences, found hanging at Cardiff prison. Died 10 May.
William Cox, 20, of Armley, Leeds, after serving two days of a seven-day sentence for non-payment of fines, was found hanging in his cell at Moorland. Died 28 July.
Christian Byrne, 18, found hanging in his cell at Swansea jail. Died 1 August.
Andrew Batey, 17, of Blaydon, Tyneside. Eight hours after he was locked up was found hanging in his cell at the Low Newton remand centre in Durham. His parents have said staff should have realised he was a suicide risk. Died 8 August.
Jody Turner, 20, serving six months for grievous bodily harm, found hanging at the Youth Offenders' Institute, Brinsford, near Wolverhampton. Died 14 August.
Shaun Webster, 20, serving 32 months for offences including theft, affray and wounding, found hanging at Doncaster prison - Britain's newest private jail. His lawyer said he was left alone in his cell despite being a suicide risk. In a suicide note, Webster wrote bitterly of his grief at being separated from his young son. His lawyer also said the police had a statement from Webster's girlfriend saying he had been beaten up by prisoners. Died 16 August.
