Your support makes all the difference.The Green Party has chosen its candidate for next year’s Mayor of London elections.
Sian Berry, a councillor for the Highgate ward in the London Borough of Camden, won a ballot of party members.
She will face off against candidates of other parties on 5 May next year to run the capital.
The Green Party came third at the last 2012 London Mayoral elections, beating the Liberal Democrats and an independent candidate to four and fifth place respectively.
Baroness Jenny Jones won 4.5 per cent of the vote in the first round. Ms Berry previously ran for Mayor in 2008, garnering 3.2 per cent of the vote.
During her campaign to be the 2016 candidate she received the endorsements of the party’s only MP Caroline Lucas, the party’s deputy leader Amelia Womack, and Green party London Assembly member Darren Johnson.
Ms Berry will also top the party’s list for London Assembly, meaning she could become a London Assembly member of the party gets enough votes.
Islington borough councillor Caroline Russell and party welfare spokesperson Jonathan Bartley took the second and third place slots on the list.
