David Cameron had some bad news today for Nick Clegg and George Osborne.

He named the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, as the second most important member of his administration - and not his Liberal Democrat deputy or the Chancellor.

The Prime Minister revealed his pecking order when he was questioned in a radio interview about the number of Old Etonians now working in Downing Street.

Mr Cameron insisted he was surrounded by people from all sorts of backgrounds.

He said: "Let's look at the Government. I mean the second most important person in the Government is the Foreign Secretary, my effective deputy leader of the Conservative party… William Hague was at a Yorkshire comprehensive."
