LONDON TAXIS: Fares will rise by nearly 1 per cent above inflation from Saturday, Steven Norris, minister for transport in the capital, announced. The new tariff for black cabs is rising by an average of just over 4.4%, compared to inflation of 3.5%. The minimum charge for the initial part of any daytime journey will rise from £1 to £1.20, with a proportionate rise for subsequent stages.
