MUSEUM VISITS: More people visited national museums and galleries in England in 1994-95 than in the previous year, Stephen Dorrell, Secretary of State for National Heritage, disclosed. There were an estimated 22.9 million visits to 11 key venues, a 0.5% rise. The most popular was the British Museum, in London, which had 6.32 million visits in 1994-95, as against 6.03 million in 1993-94. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square was the next most popular, with an estimated 4 million visits.
