This is the final Prime Minister’s Questions before the national and local elections in England, Wales and Scotland.
The Tories are widely expected to lose their hold on the capital – a poll released on the eve of the election gave Sadiq Khan, the Labour candidate, a 12-point lead over Conservative rival Zac Goldsmith. The ComRes survey for LBC and ITV News London put the Labour mayoral candidate on 56% and Mr Goldsmith on 44%, after second preferences are taken into account.
Nationwide, all seats in the Welsh assembly are up for grabs, Scotland will choose a new government and mayors will be elected in cities such as London and Bristol. In total 2,743 seats in 124 local elections will be contested as voters head to the polls tomorrow.
It will be a crucial moment in Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party as he faces his first nationwide electoral test. His opponents within the party, however, have played down the possibility of a rebellion against their leader in the event of a disaster at a local level – pollsters believe the support for Mr Corbyn among party members remains solid.
