UNEMPLOYMENT: The unemployment rate of 10.2 per cent for October compared with a European Community average (excluding Denmark, Greece and Luxembourg) of 9.4 per cent in September, Michael Forsyth, Minister of State for Employment, told Malcolm Bruce (Liberal Democrat, Gordon).

LEGAL AID: Some 23 per cent of households are currently eligible for legal aid with a contribution, John Taylor, parliamentary secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, told Mike O'Brien (Labour, Warwickshire North).
