MILLENNIUM: The 20th century and the second millennium end on 31 December 2000, Peter Brooke, Secretary of State for National Heritage, said. However, he said the Millennium Fund Commission, which distributes national lottery cash, will support projects marking the year 2000 as well as the start of the third millennium.
