RUSSIAN TROOPS: About 150,000 former Soviet military personnel remain stationed outside the borders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Baroness Chalker, Minister for Overseas Development, told Lord Hylton.
It was estimated that there were about 97,000 in Germany; 42,000 in the Baltic states; 9,000 in Moldova; fewer than 4,000 in Poland; fewer than 1,000 in Cuba and several hundred in Vietnam. Russian ground forces were expected to be withdrawn from Cuba by mid-1993.
