A Tory candidate for London mayor has asked to come and live with voters in a video that has been described as "buttock-clenchingly awful".

Mr Massow, an entrepreneur who is hoping to represent the Tories in next year's poll, says he wants to "find out about your manor" in the YouTube pitch.

"I want to live with you. It will only be for a night," says Mr Massow amid pop art-style graphics. The idea is for Mr Massow to stay over at the homes of ordinary Londoners so he can better understand the everyday problems they face.

Mr Massow's fellow Tory, the LBC radio presenter Iain Dale, was unimpressed, describing the campaign video as possibly the worst he had ever seen.

The 'Invite Ivan' video ends with a link to Mr Massow's website, ivan.london, where Londoners can enter their details to arrange the putative sleepover.

The Tories will choose their candidate to replace Boris Johnson through an open primary open to all voters in the capital.

Zac Goldsmith, the MP for Richmond Park, is the hot favourite to win. Bookies have him at 1/7 to claim the nomination, with Mr Massow a 40/1 outsider.
