Your support makes all the difference.Jeremy Corbyn has had another unlikely celebrity endorsement in the form of US actor Danny DeVito.
The Matilda and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star urged people to vote for the Labour leader on Twitter using the hashtag #grime4Corbyn.
He tweeted: "UK. You've got the guy. Register by May 22nd. Vote for Jeremy Corbyn... show us how it's done!"
The hashtag has been used on social media in the past week to reflect Mr Corbyn’s popularity with grime artists such as Stormzy and JME.
The 72-year-old actor is a socialist and an outspoken supporter of left-wing former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Last year, DeVito said in an interview that Mr Corbyn and Mr Sanders were “the only bright lights we have right now”.
He had earlier praised the politician for his honesty, telling a press conference in LA that “I like the idea of people telling the truth.
“I like them to get to the bottom of things, really.”
He endorsed Mr Corbyn for Prime Minister saying he was “way better than [David] Cameron” and Tony Blair who he called “that sketchy guy that hung out with [George W] Bush”.
But the entreaties of actors and musicians may still fall on deaf ears as even though new polls suggest Labour is narrowing in on the Conservatives, the incumbent party is still 15 points ahead.
The new polling by Ipsos Mori, which is usually unfavourable towards Labour, also suggested Mr Corbyn’s personal unpopularity was falling but at least 60 per cent of those surveyed still said Labour was not ready to govern.
