After the release of the much anticipated Russia report on Tuesday, it is understood that Boris Johnson will grant security services extra powers in an attempt to stop foreign interference in British democracy.

The report, which was concluded last autumn but held up by the government, by the Commons Intelligence and Security Committee's (ISC) highlighted that London was too slow to recognise the potential meddling of Russia in British politics.

Labour has accused the government of failing to respond to the security threat set out in the report, with Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, expect to grill Mr Johnson on the issue at the last Prime Minister's Questions before the summer recess.
