Pupils offered in-school support after two teenagers killed in e-bike crash

Your support makes all the difference.Special assemblies have been held and support put in place for pupils after two teenage boys died in a crash involving an e-bike and four cars earlier this week.
Marcus Beck, 17, and a 16-year-old boy, named locally in reports as Gregor Booth, died at around 8pm on Monday after being involved in the crash on the A941 Lossiemouth to Elgin road in Moray.
The family of the 16-year-old boy have asked for their privacy to be respected.
The boys were pillion passengers on a Sur-ron Light Bee-X e-bike being ridden by a 14-year-old boy who was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with serious injuries. He is still in hospital, where his condition has been described as stable.

In a statement, Moray Council gave their support to the families of both boys and their school friends.
A spokesperson said: “Our thoughts at this time are very much with the families of the young people who lost their lives.
“Our educational psychology team and school chaplains have been supporting school pupils affected throughout this difficult time.
“Special assemblies have been held and guidance and support staff are available to pupils and staff as the whole school community takes time to come to terms with the tragic news.
“We have an established pathway to offer support and will continue to offer this to those impacted.”
The crash also involved a blue Vauxhall Mokka, a red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf.
The driver of the Mokka, a 54-year-old man, was taken to Dr Gray’s for treatment and later released.
Police are appealing for information and have been made aware of footage on social media which appears to show the boys on the e-bike.
Police have asked anyone with information about the video or who filmed it to contact police because it may help with inquiries.

Moray Council and Police Scotland are working together to keep members of the public safe while travelling to the scene of the crash to lay flowers.
Police have moved tributes to a cycle path beside the junction.
Sergeant Iain Nicholson said: “Our extensive inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and we are particularly keen to hear from anyone with information on a video which appears to show the e-bike and its riders at an earlier time.
“We understand that this has been an extremely traumatic incident not only to the families and friends of those involved, but also the wider community.
“People will rightly want to pay tribute and we respectfully ask anyone visiting the site to please park sensibly and away from the junction for everyone’s safety, or alternatively reach the area via the cycle path.”
