From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Allegations that some staff at Danygraig Nursing Home in Newport and Ashville Residential Care Home in Brithdir are victims of modern slavery, are being investigated by Gwent Police.
Two men from the Newport area, and a man from Surrey have been arrested and remain in custody.
Investigators said a reception centre for potential victims has been set up and specialist officers from the force's Human Trafficking Team are working with the British Red Cross, the Salvation Army and others to support them.
Officers thanked the residents and their families for their co-operation.
Detective Chief Superintendent Nicky Brain said: "Due to the nature of the investigation, we are fully aware the warrants that have taken place today may cause concern to residents of these homes and their families.
"We would like to reassure them that this investigation is not as a result of any concerns raised regarding crimes committed against people residing in these homes."
