Your support makes all the difference.It's not the best accolade for a lonely canine to have but Biscuit, a dog at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, has now been rejected by 5,000 potential owners over the course two years.
Biscuit has spent nearly 700 days at Battersea's rescue centre in Berkshire having arrived as a stray in February 2013. Yet still, with over 4,900 dogs having found new homes since his arrival, Biscuit remains a mongrel without a mother.
He is now the longest-serving animal at all of Battersea's three centres in London, Old Windsor and Brands Hatch and faces yet another Christmas without an owner. He has been at the home 22 times longer than the average stay for a dog.
The manager of the centre in Old Windsor, Kaye Mughal, said, "It's unbelievable Biscuit still hasn't found a home when he's such a beautiful and fun-loving dog who would fit in perfectly with a family.
"Every day we hope someone will call us wanting to meet him, but poor Biscuit is constantly rejected and hasn't had any interest. We really thought he’d find a home before Christmas and can’t believe it’s almost his second one with us."
For those keen to give Biscuit a home this Christmas or in 2015, he is looking for experienced dog owners who live away from the inner city and do not have any other animals at home.
