Transport for London (TfL) has created "Zone 2/3" to enclose seven stations including Stratford, West Ham and Canning Town.
Travellers will always be charged for the cheapest journey to and from this new region.
For example, those travelling from Zone 1 to Stratford will be billed as per a Zone 1 to 2 fare while people commuting from Canning Town to Zone 6 will be priced as a Zone 3 to 6 fare.
A TfL spokesperson said this change to the map "recognise the shifting economic map of London towards east London.
"Re-zoning these stations will benefit more than 100,000 people per week and will ensure customers travelling to Stratford from central London will never require a ticket valid in Zone 3."
This zone change comes as Tube prices increase by 1 per cent on Saturday in line with the Retail Price Index inflation rate.
The Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said: “We’ve been campaigning for this for some time. The truth is London's moving eastwards and it’s sensible to reduce the cost of travel.
“It's going to encourage people to come to Stratford, West Ham and Canning Town, which will be great.”
The rezoned stations are as follows: Stratford, Stratford International, Stratford High Street, Abbey Road, Canning Town, Star Lane and West Ham.
