At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Oscar-winning actress Curtis, 65, was reacting to the surge in conspiracy theories on social media about Kate’s health following her withdrawal from public life.
The Princess of Wales revealed on Friday in a video message that she is undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” for cancer, which was discovered following an operation.
She previously had major abdominal surgery in January, which Kensington Palace said was successful.
Halloween star Curtis wrote on Instagram: “Can we please just STOP with this bullshit conspiracy theory? This is a human being with young children, and clearly some sort of a health issue.
“That is a private matter. Do we not have better things to do and more important things to think about and be concerned about than this? It’s a really low point in our society when there are SO MANY crucial issues that need our attention.”
Following Kate speaking out about the “incredibly tough couple of months” her family have experienced in the emotional clip, Curtis wrote an additional comment on the same post to plead with people to stop focusing on the royals.
The American actress wrote: “And now Princess Kate has told us about her health and now we should send nothing but our best wishes to her and her family and focus on our own lives and the lives of people directly related to us, and the myriad life-threatening issues to our children that we can focus on.”
Underneath her post, musician Rita Wilson and McCall applauded her remarks.
Sharing an image of Kate with her children by artist Lucy Claire Dunbar, McCall wrote on her account: “This picture by @lucyclaireillustration is called ‘It’s the love that gets us through’. They’ve been through enough. Now let’s give them some space to recover.”
In 2023, Curtis attended the Bafta ceremony alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, where she was nominated for supporting actress for surreal action comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once.
That same year, she picked up an Academy Award in the supporting actress category for the same film.
In an emotional message to the Princess of Wales, Good Morning Britain (GMB) presenter Kate Garraway also told her she has support if she needs it.
Garraway, who attended a memorial service for the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 along with Kate, wrote on Instagram: “So brave of Catherine HRH Princess of Wales to share the tough heartbreaking news of what she has been going through and how she has been trying to reassure her children and keep a sense of safety around them when all their world has been rocked.
“Sending love and support to her and her beloved family and to all facing terrifying challenges on this beautiful spring morning. Know you are loved and not alone, even though, whoever you are, it can feel like it.”
In January, her husband Derek Draper died following a battle with long Covid.
Another post from Dynasty star Dame Joan Collins shared an image of her meeting the princess in 2017 at the Royal Variety Performance.
She also wrote: “I received a #lifetimeachievementaward last night from The Inspirational @womensawards but there’s no one more #inspirational than our own #catherine #princessofwales for her #bravery and #positivity – #praying for her speedy recovery @princeandprincessofwales @theroyalfamily.”
