A woman has died after falling from a cliff, police said today.

Emergency services were scrambled after reports a woman had fallen from cliffs at Seahouses in Northumberland yesterday afternoon.

It is believed the woman fell 30ft to her death.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "At 3.05pm yesterday police received a report of a woman having fallen from a cliff at North Sunderland Point, Seahouses.

"Officers attended the scene along with the Coastguard and the ambulance service. The 59-year-old woman, who is not from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene."
