Police in Britain and the United States are searching for the 16-year-old girl who flew from John F Kennedy Airport on Saturday.
New York police said Victoria Grabowski, from Queens, arrived in the UK on Monday morning.
“We’re working in conjunction with UK police, but unless she contacts us, we’re not going to know too much more.”
US media reports say her parents discovered texts showing the teen, who is a Polish citizen, had been communicating with an older man in Britain.
She had also paid for her ticket in cash, though her parents did not know how she acquired the money.
On Monday her mother Bernadetta Gajdzinski appealed to her friends on Facebook for any sightings of her daughter.
The teen’s uncle, Arkadiusz Grabowski, told QNS that her parents discovered texts that showed she had been in communication with an older man she had met online.
“The texts show that she got fascinated with London and wanted to move there,” he said.
Mr Grabowski also said that his niece was communicating with the man in a group chat, but he could not say how old the other people in the group were.
He said the teen’s parents have hired a private investigator to help find her.
Anyone with additional information regarding her whereabouts can call New York Detective Jae Moon of the 104th Precinct Detective Squad at +1 718-386-2723.
