UK weather forecast: Temperatures as high as 18C on Monday after mild weekend, Met Office says
Chances of some showers in southern parts of England and Wales remain at start of week

Although weather will be dry across most of the country, the Met Office warned Londoners should be prepared for “a risk of a few showers, which could be quite heavy at time”.
The forecast was generally dry with a misty and cloudy forecast for Sunday, along with brighter skies in western areas. The greatest risk of rain was in the south-east, where some heavy showers were predicted.
There is a chance of a chilly start to Monday as temperatures could drop as low as 1C in some parts of Devon and Somerset.
However, temperatures will be around a mild 6C in most places and warmer weather is expected through the day.
“We could have temperatures as high as 17 or 18C in eastern England,” Sophie Yeoman, meteorologist at the Met Office, said. “Although at the end of the week, it will turn colder, returning to a more average 11 or 12C for April.”
She added that the warm weather was above average but not particularly unusual for this time of year.
“It’s higher than average, but with April it can be a bit topsy-turvy compared to other times in the year,” she said.
The Met Office is predicting a dry day in general on Monday with sunny spells in northwest England and western Scotland.
However, there may be heavy showers across southern parts of England and Wales, some of which may bring thunder in the afternoon.
“Through the rest of Monday, we’ll see some cloudy skies in places, perhaps a bit of rain in the south, but for most of us I think it will be a brighter day,” Ms Yeoman said.
A mixture of cloud and rain is expected for much of England and Wales through the rest of the week.
