UK weather: Mild weather to turn cold as temperatures plunge

Your support makes all the difference.The south of the country will see a sunny, cold morning with clearer skies leaving potential for some frost in the east.
The north west will start the week wetter and windier than the rest of the UK, but as the week goes on the wetter weather will move eastwards, leaving behind a drop in temperatures and sunny spells.
Temperatures will start off between five and eight degrees on Monday morning but will gradually rise. This will leave a mild day with a temperature range of nine to about 13 degrees later in the day.
By Monday afternoon, the rest of the UK will already see areas of cloud spreading from the west across the Atlantic. As this cloud thickens it will bring with it heavy outbreaks of rain and strong winds in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Rain will linger into Monday evening in north western England with strong winds spreading across much of the north.
Tuesday’s weather will remain similar, with brighter spells for the south of England and rain and wind in the north. Hilly western areas will be especially affected by the wetter weather.
By Tuesday night a weather front moving across the UK will bring showers to most of the country.
These showers will linger on into Wednesday, turning heavier and bringing with them cooler temperatures.
The end of the week looks to be colder with a risk of frost and fog in some areas. Winds will become lighter and most should experience sunny spells.
